Emily Grimm – Election Commissioner


Emily Grimm has been on student senate every year of her Drake experience. This year, she served on student senate as the election commissioner. Through her experience on senate, Emily learned a lot about utilizing her time, and how to take a challenging job and just have fun with it!


What was your first position on student senate, and what did you take away from that experience?

Emily: “My first position was working under the student body president on his committee. It was so much fun getting involved in a major organization right away.”


What is your favorite project you have accomplished through student senate?

Emily: “Working this year as election commissioner has definitely presented many challenges, but it has also been immensely rewarding. Seeing lots of students running for positions and putting themselves out there is really inspiring.”


How have you grown through your involvement in student senate?

Emily: “I have learned that it is important to utilize time wisely and efficiently. It is also important to complete the tasks that students are expecting you to accomplish.”


What is the most important lesson you have learned from student senate?

Emily: “Never take anything too seriously.”


Do you have any advice for students considering getting involved in student senate?

Emily: “Have fun with it, but don’t get a big head. All organizations on campus are equally important.”
