Vice President of Student Life
Hello! My name is Kevin Kane and I’m the Vice President of Student Life. I’m currently a Junior, studying elementary education and I hail from Minneapolis, Minnesota. Aside from Senate, I’m involved in Violence Intervention Partners, the SOE mentorship program and the Peer Advisory Board.
I joined Student Senate during the summer of 2015, taking on the role of Senator of Education after the sitting Senator resigned. Though I knew little about the organization at the time, I very quickly realized the importance and potential of Student Senate to create impactful change among the student body. When elections rolled around I decided to run for VPSL because I felt that Drake deserves a student government that is greater than the sum of its parts; one that can truly give students a voice.
In this position, I hope to create an environment in which Senators work together both with each other and other student and community organizations to create initiatives that will benefit students. Senate is only successful when it brings all student voices into the fold. I also want to bolster and expand the resources we have available to survivors of sexual violence on this campus. I will work to familiarize the student body with resources already available to students and ensure that this campus is an open and welcoming place for survivors.
